Bluestar leaped onto Highrock and let her voice ring out into camp. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, join here beneath Highrock for a Clan meeting!" Bluestar sat waiting patiently for her Clan to gather.

Hawkclaw was lying near the warriors den when he heard his leaders call. Lifting his head, the dark brown tabby saw their leader standing atop Highrock, waiting as the cats of ThunderClan began to gather around her. Lifting up to his large paws, the deputy quickly padded over to the large grey rock, stopping at its base in his usual spot and turning to face the rest of the clan. Sitting down Hawkclaw lightly tucked his paws beneath his body, his tail swishing lightly, and tilting his head to gaze at his leader. Curious as to why she had called the meeting, the deputy waited expectantly, though he kept silent.

"ThunderClan, it is almost New-leaf and that means more prey. Mentors and Warriors since it is still leaf-bare for the time being Hawkclaw, shall be assigning extra patrols until new leaf. But if any cat wishes to join on the extra patrols they may. Also any cat that wishes to speak with me at the end of this Clan meeting, you may do so with Hawkclaw and I." Bluestar flicked her tail to close the meeting and she leaped down from Highrock and padded into her den waiting.

Duskpelt heard the leader's call and went to the meeting place, his pure black fur shining from the last grooming he had gotten. He arrived only half a heartbeat late and scanned the area for his apprentice, Applepaw. Not seeing her speckled pelt, he turned his attention to the leader and listened to her words. So, they were going to go on more hunting patrols. Great. The prey was already hard enough to find without over-hunting. He pushed aside the thought of his apprentice and approached the leader. "Bluestar," He meowed, "the prey is hard to find already as it is, won't over-hunting put more strain on our fresh-kill pile?"

Bluestar turned to the warrior." Duskpelt,I know that but unless you want the Clan strong we must have more patrols."

When Bluestar began to address the gathered crowd of cats Hawkclaw turned his head to gaze at his clan mates, his ears perked as he took in what his leader wanted to say. The deputy heard his leader state that it was almost new-leaf, a fact that was growing more evident every day, the thinning layer of snow in the camp one of many signs. He tilted his brown gaze to rest on the she-cat when she made mention that he would be organizing extra hunting patrols while leafbare still lasted, nodding slightly to her words in reply. His tail swaying lightly as he sat, Hawkclaw waited until Buestar was finished addressing the clan, watching as the blue she-cat motioned for the meeting to come to an end a moment later. As the other cats of the clan dispersed to return to their duties, the deputy lifted himself up and shook himself briefly to ward off the leafbare chill that still filled the air, before turning and following his leader as she padded into her den.
Coming to a stop near the entrance to the den, Hawkclaw paused, about to start discussing the extra patrols Bluestar had ordered and the coming of new-leaf in general, when another cat approached them, entering the dimly lit cave. Tilting his gaze, the brown tabby noticed that it was Duskpelt, the black tom moving towards their leader and asking her whether extra patrols would only thin their fresh-kill pile. Narrowing his eyes slightly, the deputy waited as Bluestar responded, starring hard at the warrior. ”With new-leaf coming prey will be more bountiful, extra patrols will let the clan be more fed sooner,” he added after his leader had finished, ”or are you letting us know you can’t hunt for your clan?” Lifting up a paw the deputy began to clean it with slow licks, continuing to watch Duskpet. The brown tabby had taken the warriors apprentice out only a few sunrises ago, and Applepaw had been able to catch prey, barring any mistakes she made. If the young she-cat could find some prey, why should Duskpelt doubt the ability of ThunderClan warriors to do the same?

Bluestar saw her deputy and dismissed Duskpelt with a flick of her tail." Thank you Hawkclaw."
